Covid Diaries…Welcome to May

I have struggled over the past week. Being confined during bad weather in a smaller space was making me really sad. I started scanning house listings, vacation rentals–any type of imaginary escape with a yard and lots of windows.

Prior to quarantine, the town was our outdoor entertainment. We live in a tourist area and there is always something happening. There is so much uncertainty now and the overwhelming feeling of isolation. I know it is necessary. I don’t question it. I’m just having a hard time.

My husband always grounds me. Tonight, we went for an evening walk and enjoyed a few twinkle lights in a fairly deserted downtown area and a stroll through the park where we saw little duck couples nesting and flowers blooming.

Right now…this is most important. We are safe. We have a roof over our heads and food for our family. We are in good health. We do not live in a war zone. He really got me to check my privilege at this moment.

If you look at all that you DO have, it is easier to see the world with a grateful heart.

I know that spending more time outdoors will help with this sadness and anxiety. So, I ordered a pair of skates for Mother’s Day 🙂 Glittery, shiny, ridiculous roller derby girl style so that I can cruise the sidewalks and feel like a kid again.

I am grateful!
