With a budget of just over two thousand dollars, I was able to accomplish a lot! First, we replaced the media cabinet with this fantastic rustic piece that suited my client’s taste. This was our largest expenditure….but it was important to change the feel of the room and to give M the look she wanted. I added a tall reading lamp to bring extra light into the space. It is not as obvious in the daylight–but it brings a lot of warmth to the space in the evening.
Next, we searched through a large amount of inventory at Saratoga Signature and found these fabulous custom drapes that were exactly the size we needed and we were also thrilled to find two pairs!! The second set was used in the adjoining dining area for continuity. M wasn’t sure about the brown pattern at the bottom of the drapes until we installed them. They give an extra element of nature, while still being contemporary.
M had a large twin sleeper ottoman tucked off to the side of the living area that looked out of place. I brought it to the center of the room and arranged a washable throw over the light upholstery. Now, she can cover the ottoman from a toddler’s sticky fingers or cozy up while watching a movie.
I made a quick trip to Home Goods and grabbed throw pillows and a few small accessories like the lavender vase and basket for toys and blanket storage.
M placed a small chest from her entry way in the empty corner where her ottoman used to reside. The green ties in with the room and the mirrored cabinet adds another touch of femininity. We chose pillows with fun textures for her two year old. The tray on top of the ottoman can be removed while her daughter plays to avoid any potential mishaps.
I will be working with M on wall decor and spiffing up the entry way, powder room, and dining area. It will be exciting to see it all come together! What a difference!
